ECS
The ECS (Emergency Care Simulator) is a high fidelity computer-model driven full sized mannequin. It can simulate crisis medical situations testing students for both their clinical and non-technical skills and their ability to work effectively under pressure. Medical emergencies such as anaphylaxis, acute myocardial infarction, major haemorrhage and shock states respond physiologically to treatments.
It features:
- Highly precise computer modelling of human physiology and pharmacology
- Eyes that blink, open and close in response to conscious levels, and pupils that react to light
- Audible heart beat and sounds. Arrhythmias and cardiac arrest programmes respond to CPR and defibrillation protocols
- Respiratory programmes include breath sounds and pneumothorax which enable the safe practice of needle decompression.
The ECS has the added versatility of portability. This provides students with the opportunity to practice emergency medicine in a variety of different environments.
