HPS
The human patient simulator is a high fidelity computer-model driven full sized mannequin. It can simulate crisis medical situations testing students for both their clinical and non-technical skills and their ability to work effectively under pressure. Medical emergencies such as anaphylaxis, acute myocardial infarction, major haemorrhage and shock states respond physiologically to treatments.
It features:
- Highly precise computer modelling of human physiology and pharmacology
- Eyes that blink, open and close in response to conscious levels, and pupils that react to light
- Audible heart beat and sounds. Arrhythmias and cardiac arrest programmes respond to CPR and defibrillation protocols
- Respiratory programmes include breath sounds and pneumothorax which enable the safe practice of needle decompression.
